WWE 2K23 Plans to be Even Stronger

The dust has settled and we’re getting ready to embark on a new chapter in the WWE 2K series with WWE 2K23. This year, the cover belongs to the 16-time World Champion John Cena, or as Santino would say “Mr. you can’t see me man!” From featuring in 2K15, to having the 15 year “CENA NUFF” Collector’s Edition, John is back with an all-new showcase mode that will deliver a new experience for fans. The goal is, as AJ Styles would say, beat up John Cena.

“It is a pleasure to tell the story of my career through the WWE 2K23 Showcase,” said John Cena. “2K has done a fantastic job capturing and invigorating the WWE 2K franchise through this concept, and I am honored to grace the cover of WWE 2K23.”

WWE 2K23 standard edition will release on March 17th, 2023 for Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4/5 and PC. However, if you consider the Deluxe or Icon Edition, 2K23 will be available 3-days early, releasing March 14. Seen below, the deluxe edition will feature the Dr. of Thuganomics while the Icon is an art style highlighting Cena as the peak of his career. All three editions will include the preorder bonus of Bad Bunny, the rapper that really knows his way around the ring!

Break it Down

So, what changes will we see this year in WWE 2K23? Let’s start with the fan favorite, War Games. The massive structure that we witnessed the Bloodline and Sami Uso conquer is a new playable 3v3 or 4v4 (single or multiplayer) feature in WWE 2K23 and screenshots have already surfaced, allowing us a peek of what is to come, along with a screenshot of Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns. Regarding the wrestlers, Roman’s model appears to be updated from head to toe. Now we will have to wait for wait other teasers and trailers we will receive that ensure an overhaul over minor updates.

MyFACTION returns in 2K23, but also brings the highly requested feature, online. As unique as it was to purchase all the Faction cards, it meant nothing if you could not utilize them online or share the experience with or against others. It’s a huge step forward where only time will tell if It’s now worth the price of admission. Universe mode, one of my most played options with the community will now feature a reworked story system. Not much to go on, but one can hope this is something we can see as a win as there is a bit of untapped potential within Universe mode.

MyRISE this year will allow players to import custom created superstars. This is a big W! No more creating the same wrestler twice, a time-consuming feature that like hurt replay-ability in the end. Also returning is the creation suite, giving you the opportunity to create and utilize custom arenas online and an advanced customization returning to created entrances. Time will tell how detailed this feature will be, but I’m ready to step down the ramp and layeth the smacketh down!

Stay tuned for more details regarding WWE 2K22, where the plan isn’t to hit different, but become even stronger in its journey to perfection.
