Hitman Releases March 11th As An Episodic AAA Game
With the great news of Hitman making its release to platforms on March 11th, Io-Interactive announced that the game will launch episodically with additional “contracts” releasing every month. When it’s all over Square Enix will then release Hitman on disc by the end of 2016.
So how will this all play out? It begins February 12th 2016 as the Beta begins exclusively on PlayStation 4 for gamers that pre-purchase the Intro Pack ($15) or buy the Full Experience ($60). The Intro pack is to include the Prologue and Paris levels, with additional levels releasing the following month for $10. Where will the additional levels take you? Italy in April and Morocco in May are set in stone with Thailand, USA and Japan release later 2016.
Developers love this concept as it gives them time to deliver quality levels fitting for a Hitman game.
Hannes Seifert, Head of Io-Interactive mentions more in-depth: “the main driving reason is that this will allow us to create a living game that will expand and evolve over time and establish a foundation for the future – this is the first game in a storyline which will continue and expand with future Hitman games.”
PlayStation users will also gain access to The Sarajevo Six. 6 Bonus Contracts, one of which will be released with each location and sees Agent 47 travel the world in pursuit of six former members of a paramilitary unit called CICADA in this self-contained side-story exclusive for PlayStation 4 users.
