Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be redefined on October 25th

Even through all the last-minute leaks of what was to come, nothing could’ve prepared you enough for the excitement, until now. It’s official, Infinity Ward is bringing back Captain Price in the biggest and most iconic installment in the COD Franchise, Modern Warfare. And to answer the biggest question circling, is this a prequel of some sort? NO. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is being completely reworked from the ground up. And it looks Freakin’ Awesome!

With this major announce also came some shocking details. First, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will not require the traditional Season Pass for additional content and maps. I can’t remember the last time Call of Duty ever opted out of requiring a season pass (or map packs) in order to enjoy the full experience of what COD had to offer its fans. Surely fans can appreciate the efforts of Activision and Infinity Ward listening to their fan base and offering a unique “bang for their buck” at the original retail price.

Can it get bigger than that? Yes! Patrick Kelly, Creative Director and co-Studio Head with Infinity Ward had this to say: With the launch of Modern Warfare, we’re taking steps to unite the community. We plan for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support.”

To date, the only (and most successful) title that’s managed to pull this off is Epic Games with their “Game of the Century,” Fortnite. Others have tried to get Sony and Microsoft to play fair, but in most cases, PlayStation preferred to not budge and allow cross-play with Microsoft. In the end, both platforms did however cross-play with PC players, something we can expect to hear in the coming weeks of this announcement.

We are creating an emotionally charged experience that’s inspired by the headlines in the world today, where the rules are grey and battle lines are blurred” said David Stohl, co-Studio Head, Infinity Ward. “Players will join a varied cast of international special forces and freedom fighters in gripping and heart-pounding missions through iconic European cities and volatile expanses of the Middle East. It’s intense, it’s exciting, and we can’t wait for our fans to play this October.”

Not just seen in the trailer but through the screenshots, Call of Duty is utilizing a new game engine that is immersive and truly delivers a futuristic look and feel with the latest advancements in visual engineering, including a physically-based material system allowing for state of the art photogrammetry, a new hybrid tile based streaming system and more.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare can be pre-ordered now at GameStop. GameStop has also announced an exclusive Precision Edition which includes a Steelbook case, Modern Warfare themed KontrolFreek skin and thumbsticks, in-game perks and more. All reserves will include a double-sided poster while supplies last.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC via Battle.net on October 25th, 2019.
