Bayonetta 2 (Nintendo Switch) Review: She Still Got It
Bayonetta has finally made its long awaited debut to the Nintendo Switch in a two-part bundle (or individually on the Switch console. Since launching on Wii U, Bayonetta 2 has consistently remained a must have along with Legend of Zelda BOTW, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros Brawl and Splatoon. But the question lies in regards to what can be expected in the port over for Nintendo Switch owners.
Bayonetta 2 looks absolutely beautiful transitioning to the portable console. Still showcasing at a 720p resolution it’s obvious that playing on the go was the best choice, not downscaling gameplay, just as we witnessed in Super Mario Odyssey and the Switch version of Breath of the Wild.
You can’t help but continue to embrace the action in Bayonetta. Whether you’re new to the up-scaled, female version of Dante from Devil May Cry, it’s hard to put the controller down as the story not only draws you in, but the fighting mechanism is more crisp and fluid than the Wii U version.
Stringing combos and literally shooting from your feet has never been more satisfying. Well then there’s also the demonic spells and uppercuts from hell that left me wanting to increase my Umbran Climax and allo the demons do all of the dirty work.
The important question, is it worth it? Yes! The content is just as strong as the Wii U version and worth every penny for those looking to take on a new action-adventure with over 10 hours of gameplay, and not to forget the free code for the original Bayonetta (supplied at launch).
