WWE ’13 : The Revolution Begins
While I still can’t get enough of WWE ’12, WWE ’13’s first trailer has somehow made its way down the ramps. And I can say now, it’s leaving me with a handful of question marks as to where the direction of this franchise is heading.
C.M. Punk is self-proclaimed the “Best in the World “ and has taken down any man that has said different. With that, WWE and THQ is making the best decision in the world by placing Montgomery Punk on the 1st trailer, and announced live on Monday Night Raw, the official cover of WWE ‘13.
But then, the highlight is all about “Revolution” and what’s to come, aka, “Attitude” Era. Now, I’ve been to forums and seen the hype already generating, but I’ve come to learn that if you want something new, something’s getting sacrificed in the process.
Earlier this year, there was talk around the “Road to WrestleMania” being completely pulled from future production. Happily, this has now been confirmed. So with the “Revolutionary” changes, exactly what can we expect?
In the trailer you see what appears to be an entire new mode involving WWE Classic Moments. First is possibly the greatest Hell in a Cell match EVER, where The Undertaker went one on one with Mick Foley. Who can forget Mankind falling through the announce tables from the top of the cell. To say he got up was a miracle within itself! This match alone has revolutionized the concept of the cell caving in on WWE titles, climbing to a whole new atmosphere.

While in WWE ’12 Road to WrestleMania wasn’t exactly memorable to some fans. The final chapter in the road of Jacob Cass in the Hell in the Cell was one to remember. Yuke’s did a great job giving you that lasting impression of what the cell was created for.
The biggest “Oh My Goodness” (in Booker T’s voice) moment is definitely the recreation of the Big Show and Mark Henry making the ring collapse. Based on the way the footage appears, one would think it’s definitely a cutscene rather than actual gameplay. Surprisingly, developers are making this an “OMG” moment.
While sinking in this is the reinvention of the “Attitude Era”, It would be awesome if they’d adapt the anticipation trailers (promos) similar to the ones used in WWE All-Stars.
The Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin and once again Mick Foley, who one-on-one defined the “Attitude” era is seen breaking a barricade, falling directly into the crowd. This clip makes me wonder if it’s just another cutscene or are we finally able to legitimately take the action through the crowd. Even if this is so, how far along will they stretch the out of ring experience? Will you be able to go anywhere else? For sure though, this is just another “OMG” moment.
What “OMG” allows those once in a lifetime moments to take place in game. According to IGN’s article, only certain wrestlers and certain situations will trigger “OMG” moments.
New camera angles have also been implemented in this installment as the trailer specifically highlights the new angles from Jericho performing his lionsault off the ropes and C.M. Punk dropping an elbow from the top turnbuckle, both destroying the announce table.
Which leads us to the commentators. In the trailer, we still see only Jerry “The King” Lawler and Michael Cole. A few things I picked up on was one, they both were still in seat calling the action until the table imploded. As the impact took place, they both got the heck out of dodge, highlighting new animations.
Another thing was the repeat in “the revolution” 45 seconds into the trailer. Was it in reference to the camera angles or could this have been a block to the rumored, new commentator. 
Obviously, there wasn’t a third seat or person there, but there was a bit more space between the two.
I could be over exaggerating this or just wishing, but could the repeat of the voice been used to dub over a later announcement of a new commentator? Only time will tell.
