All you Day Z players out there who are interested in the similar title, The War Z, might wanna sit up and listen for this one. Arktos Entertainment Group and Hammerpoint Interactive recently announced that the closed beta for The War Z will begin on October 31st, 2012, with two early purchase packages as soon as October 15th. The two purchase options will be discounted for a limited time.
The War Z is an online, multiplayer, survival-simulation game set in an open world infested with zombies. Players must use skill with caution and intelligence in order to survive while acquiring food, weapons and other supplies necessary for survival. Pretty much it’s just like Day Z with the exception of it being a standalone, on a different engine and with a different atmosphere. It does seem to have some nifty additions though, like the ability to quickly remove or add attachments to weapons and better graphics (though i’m not too fond of the backpack UI). I’m definitely interested in taking more of a look at this game. Sergey Titov, executive producer for The War Z, had this to say about the game:
“We’ve been working non-stop to tweak and balance the game to where we feel comfortable beginning to bring more players in. We are now at that point, but this is where the real work begins. We want to work with our players to build and add additional features, remove those that they don’t like and continue to evolve The War Z to be the best zombie survival-sim available.”
Some may say this is a little premature as there hasn’t even been a proper demo or gameplay video off which to make a decision. So I’ve provided a video below I found on youtube after sharing similar concerns. There are more if you are interested in seeing some more footage, but here’s a little snippet.
Check out some screenshots of the game below as well. Some of the lighting seem “too happy” but I’ll have to see more gameplay footage before I give my final verdict on this game. What do you think? Will you be getting Day Z? I’m on my way to pre-order now.
