Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Review – Meet The New Raiders

In Uncharted 4 we witnessed Nathan Drake jump above and beyond for treasures as he reunited with his brother Sam for one last quest in order to save his big brother’s life. Without question Uncharted 4 was one of the best action-adventures titles in 2016. Now the long awaited DLC is here packaged as a standalone as Chloe Frazer makes her return since Uncharted 3. Is her story just as remarkable as her old friend’s?

The Lost Legacy takes place in India with Chloe interacting with a saleswoman, thief and a potential friend, a kid. As she buys a few items, seeking her way into the badlands to rendezvous with partner Nadine Ross, things turn left and the adventure literally never stops.

Nadine and Chloe’s relationship is pretty unorthodox throughout the campaign which is genius. As The Lost Legacy feels almost copy paste in terms to concept and gameplay, it’s the character build and personalities of the protagonists, as well as Asav, Indian rebel leader and main antagonist that makes the story still feel just as rich and unique as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Like Nathan, Chloe and Nadine raids secret locations in hopes of claiming new treasure, this time being the Tusk of Ganesh. The Tusk, hoping to make them both very wealthy holds more personal value to Chloe which is revealed within the 9 chapter campaign. It felt like Lara Croft’s big sister just showed up ready to explore and did a better job.

Even releasing as a standalone, Naughty Dog played it safe in terms of intensity. Yes there are plenty of bad guys to shoot and choppers to bring down, but not as frequent as Uncharted 4. With roughly 7 hours of gameplay it felt balanced to deliver more story and more puzzles, but you may be left wanting more. Thankfully the action sequences are big when present.

As previously mentioned there are new puzzles to solve (less and easier than U4) and items to collect. Expect to also climb plenty of ledges and swing on roped tree branches, almost reminding me more of Assassin’s Creed seeking a vantage point. Instead, Chloe tends to take plenty of photos of her adventure for her collection.

I love the detailed artifacts and hidden collectibles that we’re around and about. Also the many photos taken by Chloe were unique, including the random faces she’s able to make when accessing photo shoot mode.
