For a few days now, the internet has been buzzing with the rumor that Amazon, not Google as initially thought, would be acquiring the popular streaming site Twitch.tv.
Well, it has been finally announced and made official by a post on Twitch’s website that Amazon has acquired twitch in a reported $1 billion dollar contract.
Twitch.tv CEO, Emmet Shear, had this to say about the deal:
We chose Amazon because they believe in our community, they share our values and long-term vision, and they want to help us get there faster.
There is no information yet on what kind of changes can be expected for the site and its users, but there seems to be a general sigh of relief to know that Twitch doesn’t plan to be integrated, like Youtube, with Google +.
What do you think of this? Should they have gone with Google instead?
