If this game pulls off bullet time, it seems like we’ll be looking at Stranglehold 2 and another typical Hong Kong theme. Sleeping Dogs new story trailer opens you into the back story;”Taking the role of undercover cop Wei Shen, players are tasked with taking down one of the world’s most fearsome criminal organizations from the inside – the Sun Oh Yee triad. ”
Featuring one of the most intuitive and imaginative combat systems, Sleeping Dogs empowers players to perform an extensive set of martial arts moves, singlehandedly taking on numerous opponents. Players perform bone-crunching kicks and combos, vicious counters and a cinematic set of environmental takedowns making use of countless real-world items from circular saws to phone booths, incinerators to refrigerator doors.
For some reason, I’m not quite sold just yet. The trailer does display an interesting story, but it doesn’t seem to be “enough.” The mechanics during the fight scenes looked to be a bit laggy, plain far from fluidity. Imagine playing Batman, but with each move having a heck of a pause in between the action sequences. The game would easily lose it’s lasting impression with the gaming community.
In a nutshell, hopefully this dog won’t be sleeping forever.
