The Soccer game rivalry will continue this fall with the release of PES 2013 Pro Evolution Soccer sometime in October and FIFA 13 at the end of September. Both games have a huge fan base but it is very clear that player preference is divided between the two titles. Whether you prefer PES or FIFA it looks like we will be getting 2 excellent soccer games this fall.
Having been a huge FIFA soccer fan for many years I was very hesitant to even try the PES 2013 Pro Soccer Evolution Demo but I can say that I am really glad I did. From what I have read most soccer game fans either like FIFA or like PES and it isn’t so much they hate the other title but rather they simply prefer one game over the other. It ultimately comes down to which game you are most comfortable with and what feels more natural to you.
PES 2013 has over taken the spot FIFA once held in my heart and has become my new favorite soccer title. And for exactly the reason I mentioned above. It feels more natural to me than previous FIFA titles, more so in the areas that I had trouble with. I really enjoyed the “Game Plan” option as it allows you to go into an over view map and adjust your player starting line up. This can be down prior to the start of the game as well as during. So if you don’t like your arrangement you can make changes at any time. The controls felt more natural to me unlike when I played FIFA and personally I found there was more of a learning curve with FIFA’s controls. The graphics were not perfect, but since this is only a demo one can not expect them to be. Either way I was not disappointed with them and I am sure they will take the time to ensure the final product will be released complete and all polished up.
Konami Digital Entertainment has also added a view changes to their game. First being the controls. PES Fullcontrol allows players to have total freedom over movement and also allows them to choose how they receive and move the ball. They have also enhanced close control and dribbling, giving the player the ability to adjust the speed of their dribble while moving in a 360 degree circle. Goalkeepers also benefit from the improved controls by having more precision thus allowing them the ability to have much quicker counter attacks.
Secondly they have a Player ID system, which gives in game characters more recognizable features and signature moves making them easily identified to their real life counter parts. This includes things like how the player runs, turns, moves the ball and even their celebratory moves.
Finally they have added enhancements to player AI. You will notice more balanced gameplay, more tactical precision and Enhanced goal keeping. All of which were things voted “key” needed improvements by the PES fans. They have tried to remove illogical elements in order to give players a more realistic experience along with an improvement to the AI’s decision process allowing in game characters to respond with better reactions.
With all these huge improvements it is clear that EA is going to have some competition on their hands this Fall. So which title has your heart, PES 2013 or FIFA 13?
