In yet another victory for the evolution of gaming for ALL platforms, Kalypso Media have announced that their upcoming title, Omerta – City of Gangsters will not only be available on Xbox 360 and Windows PC on the First of February this year, but will be appearing in the Mac App Store in early 2013 as well. Along with the Mac release, the game will now feature cross-platform multiplayer between PC and Mac via Steam as well as offering support for save games to the Steam Cloud.
Omerta is a Gangster Themed 1920s Simulation game which will feature tactical turn-based combat. The studio behind Tropico 3 and 4 are no strangers to the Simulation Genre and are bringing a fresh take to the old tale of a fresh off the boat immigrant working his way up the ranks. The player is destined to eventually take complete control over Atlantic City. That’s right, Atlantic City!
“The Boss” will handle his business and minions in real time, issuing orders, building up revenue, (be it legal or illegal avenues), all the while making sure to save enough cash on hand to bribe those annoying officials and coppers.
Combat in Omerta looks to be a fresh change. Events play out in a turn-based fashion with the player controlling “The Boss” and his henchman. Strategy will play a deep role in each encounter as sometimes it may be wiser to sneak attack, while other times, finding just the right spot to hide in cover while unleashing a hell-storm of bullets on the opponent just might be the better way to go.
No matter how you slice it, this game looks to be yet another brilliant offering from a fantastic and proven studio, Kalypso Games, and to celebrate the announcement of the cross-platform release, they have released a special new gameplay trailer! Be sure and check it out above on YouTube!
