mario 3We’ve embarked many galaxies within the realm of Super Mario. They’ve even taken it from the world to the streets in Mario Kart, as well as the court in both tennis and basketball. Now Mario is back and has brought the crew with him to the golf course.

If you ever played Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour you’ll feel quite comfortable with the control layout and ideal gameplay. There are two key modes in World Tour, Quick Game and Castle Club. Quick Game supports single player games, versus and tournaments. There’s also over a handful of additional courses to unlock, increasing locations and opportunities to earn coins for usage throughout the World Tour experience.

Castle Club is a unique story mode allowing you to play as your Mii, shooting off at the Forest, Seaside and Mountain course. Defeat the best of the best on each course to prizes.

Mario Golf World Tour allows you to choose up to 13 different characters, unlock a few through challenge modes and download future characters, including Gold Mario. With the coins collected from every session, you can also unlock unique gear respective to each Nintendo character on the world tour.

When playing Mario Golf, everything is onscreen for a simplistic feel and interaction. There’s a 3D view of the course that’s amazingly visualized by the angle of your Nintendo 3DS. Mario-Golf-2Trajectory is handled by the d-pad. But it’s your swing and spins that matters.  In addition there are unique blocks on some courses will allow you to earn special abilities like fire flower (allowing you to burn through trees), or bullet bill (forcing your swing’s precision and ignoring the wind). It’s like playing Hot Shot Golf on steroids!

World Tour introduces actual tournaments allowing you to earn coins for your Mii character. The Callaway has teamed with Nintendo as well to drive a realistic focus to players, notifying you through Spotpass for chances to possibly win Callaway sponsored gear like clubs and more.

In all, Mario Golf World Tour is an abundance of fun. Not only is the initial experience entertaining, there’s much more to look forward to in future DLC’s and ongoing tournaments. If you’re looking for a great 3DS game to add to your Nintendo collection, don’t look over this one.
