Kara is brought to us by Game Developer Quantic Dream, best known for their game Heavy Rain, and is a about a 3rd generation android. Head of Quantic Dream, David Cage, unveiled this clip at the Game Developers Conference Presentations showing the an android named “Kara” being assembled and going through a series of questions to ensure she meets the criteria before being shipped out for sale.
Kara however, unlike the other Androids, is self-aware and “thinks” she is alive. Desperately she tries to convince her assembler that her ability to think is actually a feature and not a defect.
Check out the clip below.
This video is running in real time on the PlayStation 3 and looks amazing. Although Kara is not said to be the next exclusive game for PlayStation it sure does show all us gamers the potential for future content to hit our consoles.
David Cage says:
“Kara” is not our next game. It’s not the character, it’s not the world, it’s not the story. …We do things in a very strange way here, things that have nothing to do with the games we make. But I think that’s a part of the DNA of the studio, and hopefully something that people like about us – they never know what they’re going to get!”
So maybe you’re now disappointed this is not an “announced” game; I know I am. The graphics are unbelievable and the story has a billion possibilities. Quantic Dream could do so much with this as a potential title and series. Although it is not an upcoming game, I am excited to see first hand the possibilities for growth in the gaming world. And maybe, just maybe a year or two down the road they will make something of Kara.
