Thanks to Hello Games, Joe Danger is back! You may remember him from games such as Joe Danger, Joe Danger Special Edition, and the new title just released today, Joe Danger 2: The movie.
In Joe Danger 2, fans will be able to continue on were the “chart topping and award-winning” Joe Danger left off. Playing the bravest stunt man ever, fans will be taking Joe Danger to Hollywood where they will be on set for the best action movie ever. In Joe Danger 2 you will be out running avalanches, flying jet-packs, skiing, water-skiing, quading, sky-diving and even dodging dinosaurs.
The objective in Joe Danger 2 is simple, speed through levels trying to find all the secrets, collect all the collectibles, do as many stunts as possible, and finish each level with the highest score possible. Sounds easy right? Well not so much so, it is actually pretty challenging. When you select a level you will notice “Star Collectibles” these come in a wide range of items such as little blue stars, bananas, letters from the word DANGER etc. It is up to you to collect all the items associated to each Star, once you do so you will earn the Gold PRO coin. If you think you can earn all the star collectibles on your first play through you will be sadly mistaken, at least when it comes to the later levels. It will likely take you a couple of tries per-level. Luckily for you, chances are you will be re-playing levels over and over to beat both your friends and your own high scores.
Replay ability is high in Joe Danger 2, at least if you are all about being the best or if you just like to top yourself. At the end of every level you will see you your scores compared to all the scores of your friends. This is where the stunts come in. Simply playing through the level and collecting items isn’t going to achieve the highest score. You are going to need to throw some awesome tricks in there. If this isn’t enough to keep you playing over and over again, there are star collectibles. Who wants to finish a level without all the items? I know I don’t, so this alone will keep you coming back for more.
The graphics in Joe Danger 2 are immaculate, at least as perfect and flawless one could expect from a 2D arcade game let alone a cartoony one. In my opinion it is comparable to the likes of any cartoon movie title to recently hit theaters. And maybe it is just me, but seriously Joe Danger the Movie for real, I’d be there.
The controls are simple and straight forward. As you play through the single player mode, you will see pop ups telling you which buttons to use to do certain actions. This is very helpful as Joe Danger is a stuntman and is constantly using different equipment to get through levels. You will not find yourself doing the same thing over and over. It can become confusing early on when you progress to another level in-game and are forced to use a different means of transportation, like the jet pack. But you will be happy to know this confusion is extremely short-lived, as you are constantly reminded of the moves and replaying levels definitely helps you remember.
If you ever find yourself bored with Joe Danger 2, which likely will not happen any time soon, make sure you head on over and check out the multi-player option. You can compete against 3 of your friends to see who is the ultimate stunt racer in Hollywood. And don’t forget to punch your friends in the face as they try to pass you by on the track. Just to clarify, face punching must only be done in-game not in real life. As fun as this is, it is unfortunately really under used in the single player mode and can only be optimized when playing with friends.
Just like in Joe Danger, Joe Danger 2: The Movie brings back the level creator! All you fans of the previous level builder will be happy to know it has been improved and simplified. You can simply move things around and place them where you want. Best of all, you won’t be forced to guess where things should go, now that they have added a pause feature allowing you to see exactly were items should go. How many of you were bummed you couldn’t share your levels in the first Joe Danger? Well there is no need to be bummed out anymore because in Joe Danger 2 once you are happy with your creation you can upload it for all to see! Along with the upload system there is a ranking system, allowing fans to rate different levels and then sort through the levels based on rank.
Over all Joe Danger 2: The Movie has it all! It has amazing graphics, great game play, simple controls, single player and multi-player game modes and an all new share-able level creator. It is a great game that makes you want to compete with your friends and play over and over. Best of all it comes at a great cost. For the amount of hours and hours of gameplay you are sure to get, 1200 MSP is a steal.
If you are unsure if Joe Danger is the right stuntman for you check out the Demo now.
