Is The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct Even Ready?

twd_merle

A few weeks back, Activision released a video that was directly meant for IGN to see, but somehow leaked and landed in public view. In the trailer, you can see what the publishers are calling “Alpha” testing, revealing one of the game’s main characters, Merle, and gameplay.

A statement was released  by Penny Arcade that indeed the video was a fake, possibly a fan made dupe. Whomever tweaked the video also took the time to create a bogus YouTube account as “TWDSurvivalInstinct.”

But here’s the thing, an official “Promo” trailer was just recently released with absolutely NO gameplay, along with screenshots (seen below) that look like they’ve could’ve came from the same video previously mentioned to be a preview build. With this, a few eyebrows should begin to raise. Graphically, it looks exactly the same, unless we’re yet again being bamboozled.

The gaming community have been calling Survival Instinct a watered down version of Left 4 Dead. Others, which are just plain harsh, are considering this to be a War Z situation all over again.

Now to give credit where credit is due, The Walking Dead Survival Instinct  has a great concept. Though some, including myself, would’ve enjoyed co-op, you get to play as Daryl Dixon fighting your way to Atlanta where the TV series picks them up.

You’ll make all the important choices of taking down walkers or finding way around them. If that’s not enough, you will need to search for weapons, supplies, ammo and more, as well as determine how you will distribute rations with people that you come across through the campaign.

Fans of The Walking Dead will definitely continue to show interest and be in stores to pick up Terminal Reality’s new title Survival Instinct. With just two months to launch, we can only hope that graphics are a bit more polished, as well as a gameplay trailer emerges sooner than later.

Can they pull off a TellTale and make TWD evenly as stunning, or will it backfire and leave gamers trying to survive more than characters in the story?

Either way, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is scheduled to release  March 26, 2013 for XBOX 360®,  PlayStation® 3 and Wii U®
