Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm Review

Game Reviewed: Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm

Developer: Stainless Games

Publisher: SEGA

Platform: [Reviewed: Xbox 360]

Genre: Puzzle & Trivia

Rated: M for Mature

Been quite some time since I watched any of these crazy videos, but now it’s an actual video game? Happy Family Tree turns out to be just as crazy and psychotic as the show. However does that make it worth the buy?

The game kicks off with poor Lumpy making a few bad decisions after being “suckered” in by a few crooked salesmen. After getting himself cleaned, he finds himself back at it again under different circumstances. Now Lumpy’s a gamer.

The overall game is a puzzle adventure where you are expected to guide the friends across the most dangerous contraptions built. It starts off fun but becomes very uninteresting too fast. The sole creation of the game is to watch these little creatures die as horrendous as possible. But! You technically have to try and get them to end of each mission in one piece.

While the game works in that concept, it doesn’t have the replay value to keep most gamers interested. Graphics are okay as cutscenes look similar to something out of PaRappa the Rappa. Yes I just went there! “I Gotta Believe!” It switches over to a basic side-scrolling platform when play is in session.

There isn’t much audio other than the mopes and groans from the Happy Family Tree crew and the BG audio. Soundtrack wise, it does bring the typical HFT feel to the game itself. It a friendly adventure theme with a bunch of messed up things happening in the process.

For the price, it’s worth it. For the experience, It’s worth passing up. I’m a huge fan of the mini shows but it pretty much stops there. There is a demo available right now for download so you can at least give it a fair chance. Who knows, maybe you’d get a kick out of it.

Uh, I think your timing is a bit off my friend.. Release date Sept 12 2012? Where do you live?

I have had this game (From Xbox Live Arcade) for over 4, maybe 5 years.. I still have not beaten it because it isn’t that great.. but the game is not new by any means.. It is almost as old as the Xbox 360 itself.

Did the game just finally release in your region or something? It has been in North America for years.
