Adapted from the Christopher Brookmyre novel of the same name, Bedlam is an interesting game that documents the evolution of video games – and the FPS genre – while being a video game!
The main character is Heather Quinn – yes, a female protagonist – who finds herself stuck in a childhood game she remembers playing only to find an interconnected realm that allows her to essentially hop from game to game as the history of video games progresses.
Currently in early access, Bedlam just received a content patch that adds gameplay to the first two game worlds, Starfire and Death or Glory. In addition to a zombie sewer level and the inclusion of German subtitles, it also introduces the first two arcade levels, Chilli Chomper and Guano Attack – which pay homage to classic arcade titles like Pac Man and Space Invaders.
The new content expands Bedlam to 15 levels, around 3 hours of gameplay, and includes many bug fixes.
“I’m really excited for people to experience the new content we’ve created for Bedlam. I’m incredibly proud of our work on Chilli Chomper, and as expected Pac Man is absolutely thrilling and pretty scary as an FPS.” said Nick Witcher, Marketing Director at RedBedlam.
