Paving the way at the start of E3 is the bombastic return of the demon-killing, absurdly-fast, big-FU@&%$!-gun wielding daddy of all shooters: DOOM! Executive Producer Marty Stratton begins by introducing the beloved shooter and slowly builds up to the reveal of the next generation of DOOM. What was previously debuted exclusively behind closed door at last year’s Quakecon was now debuting for the first time to a worldwide audience.
DOOM running on the new id Engine 6 (jokingly called id Engine 666) was raved as an absolute PC killer and that the gameplay is fast and blood-pumping by one of my friends who attended Quakecon 2014. And as the demo started up for the first time, I saw first-hand that he was one hundred percent correct.
Not only is the new DOOM the best looking thing I’ve seen, but the pace at which Doom Guy moves across the level at such speeds is ludicrous. Classic enemies and weapons make an appearance, but is also accompanied by some new mechanics. These new additions include executions, a la Brutal Doom, that put games like Hatred to shame, and the mobility of Doom Guy gets a boost from a jump pack in his armor.

After bedazzling onlookers with punchy sounding guns and an ocean of demonic blood, it was then announced that multiplayer is making its way back into the DOOM package, including modes like classic deathmatch, among others.
And perhaps the most surprising piece of news came in the form of DOOM Snapmap – a way for players, regardless of platform, to create and share their custom maps and game modes with others to play and enjoy. DOOM Snapmap is composed of comprehensive and streamlined creation tools where players can make maps from scratch, place enemy spawns, and add whatever assets from the game you want into your custom game!
People who purchased new copies of Wolfenstein: The New Order should have also received a code for the DOOM beta so make sure to redeem those codes! DOOM will launch for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One
