Do you remember playing Bomberman? There was nothing more than a fast-paced thrill as you did nothing more than annihilated your foes. In the process, you found plenty of perks that aided you to your victory.  Kalypso have attempted to recreate this experience with their new title Dollar Dash.

Dollar Dash is on-edge game that never slows down. The object of the game is to outwit your opponent. You’ll both be challenged at carrying or holding the most loot for an extended amount of time, or to a getaway van.  Manage to haul off the most amount of money and you’re the winner.

While the concept seems simplistic, it’s more of a cluster! The game breaks down in three modes: Dolla Dash, Hit’ n ‘Run and Save the safe.

Dollar Dash allows you to play against up to four players in an attempt to become the richest of them all. You run around in an overhead map, collecting as much as you can while the other players  do whatever they can to get you to drop the loot. Throw snowballs, leak oil, set bear traps and fires, whatever it takes to slow them down, take the money and run. When the truck pulls up, get the money into the vehicle first, meeting your quota to win.

Hit’ n ‘Run plays more like Bomberman. The goal is to take out enemies. That’s it! Each time you knock out enemies you earn money. Last there is Set the Safe. All you have to do Is grab the safe and hold it the longest to win. Think of capture the flag, in a sense.

Now while it sounds easy, the game has its major disadvantages, mostly being the mapping. The map and size are all a bit too cluttered for gameplay. With so much going on, you’ll find yourself losing your own character, especially after you die.

However, the money that you do collect will grant you access to a wide variety of customizations. Hats, taunts, faces, upgrades and more tries to add the game, but just isn’t enough to enhance the experience.

Dollar Dash is an interesting title that fails to draw players in and convince them that it’s worth the sticker price. The potential is there on paper, but once you begin to play, the light begins to dim.
