Activision and Bungie recently announced that DLC for Halo inspired Destiny, Destiny Expansion I: The Dark Below, will be available for download on December 9th.
The Dark Below is the first expansion to Destiny’s universe and features all-new weapons and gear to earn through new story, cooperative and multiplayer activities. President of Bungie, Harold Ryan, had this to say about the game:
“Destiny was created as a living universe, which has allowed us to improve the experience post launch in real-time. It also gives us insight into the things players are looking for in new content. We’ve seen from feedback that people want new activities, gear and weapons, and of course the immensely popular Raid. The community helps shape our development decisions and that’s really important to us.”
The Dark Below will feature new weapons, armor and gear including Legendary and Exotic items. It also raised the level cap to 32 and adds five additional bounty slots. Players will get to experience new story quests and missions as well as a new character named Eris.
The multiplayer experience for Destiny will see three new maps named Pantheon; featuring Vex-designed landscaped and tight corridors, Skyshock; offering both vehicle and infantry engagements, and The Cauldron; an abandoned Hive ritual site perfect for close quarter combat.
Playstation players will also get access to The Undying Mind, an exclusive cooperative strike that will be fully Playstation only until at least Fall of 2015.
If any of this makes your unmentionables need laundering, you can purchase The Dark Below for $19.99 by itself or as part of the Destiny Expansion Pass that includes Expansion I and II for $34.99. The Dark Below is available for Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
