Battlefield Hardline Beta Hands-On Impression

BFHardline

It became expectant for Battlefield to release one year then Medal of Honor the next and so forth. It’s like Treyarch and Infinity Ward playing back and forth with the Call of Duty installments. This year however E3 was a blockbuster occasion for all gamers alike. And specifically for D.I.C.E., Visceral Games and EA they’ve changed the game and expectations of Battlefield, inviting us to Battlefield Hardline.

At first I could see nothing more than a creative and better-rounded version of Payday 2. To get that thought process out of my head; I felt I would need to have that one on one time with Hardline. Luckily, and quite rare, EA opened a beta the same day as the announcement for PC and PlayStation 4.

BFHardline3The Closed Multiplayer Beta opened two options to gamers, The Heist and Blood Money. The television themed intro reminded me of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 after saving a civilian during a free roam, becoming a bit annoying a few game in.

The deploy screen appears to be similar to earlier Battlefield installments, however in Hardline you can visually see all your teammates gameplay before you jump back in the action. Battlefield Hardline feels more fast-paced than BF: IV. With multiple ways to get around, you can drive or spawn inside of swat cars, police vehicles, motorbikes and more.

In the Heist as the robber you need to arm vaults and steal the packages, escaping successfully. Manage to deliver packages twice to win. Prepare to take down the police or robbers on foot, in a chopper or even while using zip lines, parachutes.

Blood Money is all about who wants to leave with it all. It’s a race to obtain $5 million dollars. Fill your vault by either stealing as much from the secret location, killing the competition and collecting the loot or going to the opponent’s hideout and snatching their own earnings.

Battlefield Hardline as for multiplayer at least seems somewhat promising. Granted it’s an early beta, graphics can use a bit more polishing, especially considering this beta was for new-gen. If you noticed the environment while in a helicopter the building looked awesome, while running on walking to a destination the pavement on the street look stunning. However it all ends there as vehicles looked like box cars, trees and bushes had no genuine texture, as well as a few other noticeable mentions.

Electronic Arts has mentioned Xbox receiving a beta soon with new content separate from the PlayStation 4 beta. We look forward to sharing thoughts down the line. But so far so great; The transition was a little weird to begin as it felt like a more interactive version of Payday, but it works!
